Valentine

Her mere glance was enough to stone my heart

Tomato red blush was an appetizer

My feet refused to lift me up

Nerves were throbbing faster

I found myself hypnotized

Her dark magic turned me from an atheist to a believer

My fingers were crossed for the first time

Her fragrance made me forget my own lines

If it were possible, I would have described my every emotion

But words didn’t escape my lips

All I could do was to kneel before her

And extend a heart made from my fingers and thumb

When I finally looked into her eyes

They were already moist with happiness

‘Will you be my Valentine?’ I whispered into her ear at last.

Spring

Flowers!  Springs! Romance! Ah!

The fragrance down the lawn

reminds me of your cologne.

Which song is the Mynah singing?

Isn’t it the same song which

you used to murmur in the bath?

The breeze pushes my slivers

back to their place gently

just the way you used to do.

The palm is waving at me

imitating your gestures perfectly.

The marigold is flirting with me!

Aren’t you getting jealous?

Don’t do anything to him!

He really has a cute smile.

The sunflower is kissing the rays.

Should we look away?

Of course, at least give them some privacy.

The pigeon is rubbing its neck all over his partner’s.

Doesn’t it remind you of something?

Look!

There’s a small girl sitting

At the edge of the fountain

What? You didn’t recognise her?

Its me, Honey!

Or at least my physical projection.

What is she holding between her fingers?

It is a dried leaf with something scribbled over it.

Still don’t remember?

It is the same letter you sent her

six months ago. She reads the poem

written on it everyday till her eyes swell.

When will you send your next poem?

Even anticipation has a limit.

When will this leaf see its spring?

Soon enough I guess!

Her eyes are closing.

Something red flowing out of her wrists

and trying to nourish leaf’s veins.

There!

A fairy is on its way with her chariot.

The girl will see her spring soon.

The Boy Who Learnt

The boy has learnt

the art to endure

affliction of thorns pierced

right through his heart.

The boy has learnt

the art of abstinence

from the euphoria

of the Cupid’s arrow.

The boy has learnt

the art of deception

to let a smile

rest on his melancholy face.

Kissing the Darkness

I want to kiss the darkness,

snuggle her and get entwined

into her cozy frigid arms

to such a quantum that

even sultriness of inferno

can’t break us apart.

Ablaze with embers of desires,

I want to fondle around

her numb icy anatomy

and clench myself with the aroma

of her long messy hair and

brush my head against her bosom.

I want to taste her mortified ecstasy

so recklessly that I have buried

my vaporising tongue into her

damp utopia so hastily that

flames of desires have spurted out,

and now I want to kiss the darkness again.

The Promise

I kept standing there raining my tears

Hoping her to return

I kept holding her photograph

A droplet of tear rolled down my cheeks on it

I kept praying for her

There was not a temple left unvisited

I kept playing with dangers willingly

Wishing to commit some fault each time

I kept using the same old perfume

She used to say that she liked its smell

I kept laying awake all night

I knew the dreams would be possessed by her

I kept chanting her name

Like I was some sage lost in his God

I kept visiting the cemetery

Lest the smell of roses on her grave should fade away

I kept staring at the ring I bought for her

Wondering if someone else’s fingers could fit into it again

I kept a smile on my face

For the promise I made to her can’t be broken.

Resurrection

I was silent until now

My conversations started with her smile.

I was ignorant until now

Knowledge streamed into me with her smile.

I was savage until now

Civilization sparked in me with her smile.

I was insomniac until now

Started dreaming with her smile.

I was misguided until now

She flashed me my destination with her smile.

I was bounded until now

Got introduced to infinity with her smile.

I was evil until now

Learnt morality with her smile.

I was incomplete until now

Found myself with her smile.

I was dead until now

My resurrection started with that smile.
